Civil Rights Data Collection

Civil Rights Data Collection is a biennial survey required by the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights. Data from SY 2020-2021. The Hawaii Department of Education does not expel students. Students may be dismissed from Hawaii public schools for a remainder of a school year or for a period not less than one year for a firearm violation.

What does this mean?

This data represents students from Hawaii public schools who have been dismissed for the remainder of a school year or for a period of not less than one calendar year for a firearm violation. Dismissed students are provided with alternative educational opportunities and remain active on their respective school's roster
